Imported European Flue Regulations - Flue Selection

The imported flues we sell at Hydrofire are manufactured according to the highest European standards to ensure the best quality and safety, while still being extremely well priced.

Since July 2013, the Construction Products Directive (CPD) has been changed and has become a regulation (CPR). Accordingly, adequate chimneys are considered to be only those with CE certification that meet specific standards or higher. Compliance with European standards ensures the use of proper materials, plus added benefits of using a certified chimney include easy installation, extended lifetime, energy saving and an attractive end result. Also, the raw materials used are recyclable, are not hazardous to health and are environmentally friendly.

In the new high-quality stainless steel chimneys, the inner wall through which the exhaust gases are conveyed should be made of antimagnetic stainless steel AISI 316L or AISI 304 with thickness from 0.4mm to 0.6mm. The outer wall can be of AISI 316L or AISI 304 stainless steel, thickness from 0.4mm to 0.6mm. Insulation must consist of a suitable rockwool with thickness of at least 25 mm and density between 80 to 120 kg/m.

Please note that the magnetic stainless steel AISI 430 is not in the list of CE certified European products. The 430 grade stainless steel is considered only a partially suitable material. Due to Ni (Nickel) in AISI 430 steel, it is not as resistant to high temperatures, temperature changes and corrosion.
